About Alex

Before completing my Master of Social Work in 2023, I spent several years working with people experiencing homelessness, substance use challenges, and acute crises. Since then, I’ve worked with people navigating addiction, trauma, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, questions of meaning and spirituality, and major life transitions.

My practice draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (if you have questions about these approaches, please ask). I don’t believe that effective therapy follows a formula, as human problems need more than a set of step-by-step instructions. I see counselling as a collaborative process where we both share a part of the work to explore what’s important to you. I value an honest, open therapeutic relationship where there’s space to ask questions and offer feedback.

I love learning more about therapy practice, and I am committed to growth through coursework, reading, supervision, and consultation with peers. I also believe that you deserve to understand the work we’re doing together. If you find yourself wondering why I’m inviting you to explore a topic or suggesting a tool or technique, please ask. I don’t have tricks up my sleeve.

My hope for our sessions is that you feel safe enough to explore with courage and curiosity. Together, we can ask new questions, look at familiar problems from different perspectives, and make room for the possibility of change.
If it sounds like we could be a good fit, feel free to reach out for a 15-minute consultation.
